Austin Miller

Austin Miller

High School Coach

I grew up in Bend, Oregon, and I'm excited to have the opportunity to give back to the program that I used to play for. My first year playing lacrosse was in 7th grade when Park and Rec first started their lacrosse program in Bend. From there, I worked up to being a starter on the Bend High varsity team in my junior and senior years. After high school, I followed my passion for the sport to Washington, D.C., where I was a four-year starter at Marymount University.
I have been coaching since 2012, both here in Bend and on the East Coast during my time there. I also had the opportunity to work with Bend's 7th and 8th-grade team from 2019 to 2023.
Lacrosse has opened up so many doors for me, both on and off the field. It has provided me with incredible opportunities and experiences that have shaped who I am today. Because of this, I am deeply passionate about giving back to the sport and the community that has given me so much. I am dedicated to helping kids reach their full potential, both as athletes and as individuals. I believe in the power of sports to teach valuable life lessons and build character. My goal is to inspire and support young athletes, helping them grow and succeed in all aspects of their lives.

Spencer Welch

5/6 Assistant Coach

Spencer grew up in Bend, Oregon. Like many athletes living on the West Coast in the 1990s, he did not have the opportunity to participate in lacrosse competitively. Now, with two boys playing, Madden on 5/6 and Marek on 7/8, it has become his favorite sport. Spencer has coached youth football over the past five years. He encourages all young athletes to play the sport of lacrosse. Spencer is very excited to be a part of the Bend Caldera lacrosse program and help develop these young men in their sport.

5/6 Assistant Coach

Casey was born in Bend Oregon and spent most of his life living in Central Oregon.  While not growing up playing Lacrosse was reluctantly pushed into a coaching role for my older son Carson through Bend Park and Recreation.  Once understanding the game and a lot of U tube videos it was easy to see the love people have for the game.  I am especially drawn to the team aspect of the sport and the comradery the players develop for their teammates.  My son Jace 5/6 will be playing this year on the Bend Caldera Lacrosse team.  I am excited to be part of the program.

5/6 Assistant Coach

Brittany Barker grew up in Lake George, NY where she was a three-sport athlete. She played basketball and lacrosse at Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY while studying Civil Engineering. After college, Brittany moved to LA and joined a women’s lacrosse club that played games against west coast club teams that were just establishing their programs like UCLA, Loyola Marymount, and UC San Diego.

Upon having kids of her own, Brittany started coaching youth soccer in 2018 and boys lacrosse in 2021. She has enjoyed introducing fundamental lacrosse to the youngest of players through the BPRD program and watching their love for the sport continue to flourish over the years. Her favorite part of lacrosse is that it’s a crossover sport that integrates aspects of multiple sports. She focuses on teaching principles and strategies that can help well-rounded athletes further develop their athletic IQ in all sports.

Brittany is excited to join the Bend Caldera LAX program and help develop skills, foster a strong team culture, and build confidence in these young athletes.
